The people and purpose behind the food
Southern Oaks Ranch + Dairy is a family-owned working and educational farm on Wadmalaw Island centered on Nigerian Dwarf goats, raw goat milk, honey, eggs and limited pasture-raised meat birds. Raw milk is limited and may require a reservation or waiting list, while farm visits are by appointment.
Rachael Herndon is the farm's public founder and steward. The operation also developed The Tallow House, a farm-linked skincare business using ingredients including the farm's goat milk and honey. Farm Allegiance keeps the food and skincare provenance separate and does not currently attribute cattle or tallow to Southern Oaks without direct confirmation because public sources contain conflicting sourcing language.
